Ahhhhhhh I’m drawing out the overview of my project that an undergrad is gonna help me with to help explain it better and it’s so cuuuute :’) 🧬

Maybe when I’m done (if I can figure out how) I’ll make it into a zine

Had a super awesome meeting with the undergrad, she’s excited and really appreciated the drawing :’) Even mentioned she was in another lab but felt like it was a bad fit but that this feels like a good one 😭

Ahhh super hyped, went to the art department's visual resource center to talk about to how to make stuff like this to edit for teaching and I'm gonna meet with the awesome lady with an accent on Monday, I'm so stoked!!

@er1n @ewok I think it’s just one specific method of plasmid editing / dna assembly. By using / making overhangs to help pop in fragments

@ldopa omg this is so cute! i want to do this for some of the stuff i work on to mentor people now

@er1n it apparently really helped! I had typed up an abstract for my project but thought walking through the visual would be especially helpful and it was! Definitely recommend!

@ldopa
:blobpopcorn: This looks SUPER interesting :blobcatsip:

Reminds me of my high school biology textbook where it explained everything DNA and stuff.

(I should've been a molecular biologist, maybe? )

@ldopa
would you mind explaining to us mere mortals what is it you're trying to do?

@rick_777 I’ve been trying to figure out a way to do so! Maybe writing in some more text, or maybe a video. But I think it does have to be a process to walk through the drawing 🤔 let me think on it a bit

@ldopa
okay from what i can deduce you're using CAS9 (or some other method which I can't understand, the the circles thingy on the right) to inject the GFP Gene into a nematode using... RNA or something...? so that it can have inked (or fluorescent?) spots? :blobthinking:

the part below the worm I don't get at all; neither the "before" part on the left.

me -> :blob_dizzy_face:

@ldopa
(okay, just learned about gibson assembly. I'll be needing to watch some YouTube videos about it to really grok it.)
